Self clinching fasteners or press-in fasteners must be pressed into precisely cut holes in sheet metals, plates and profiles. Self clinching products include nuts, bolts/screws, guide pins, spacers in several versions (different thread, length, hole, sheet thickness, material, hardness etc.) There are even press-in fasteners that can be pressed into plastic sheets or printed circuit boards.

There are two main technologies commonly used:

Drawn arc welding
Capacitor discharge technology has a great advantage on one side fastener placing without affecting (no coloring, no deformation) the sheet metal's other side. This technology is mainly used till size of M10 fastener.
Drawn arc welding technology is developed for larger fasteners and for more secure one side access fixing of fasteners. There is two different method: ceramic ring or shield gas placing.
