Do you want an economical solution when fixing fasteners? Fast, easy to use and user-friendly way? As opposed to the usual costly procedures such as drilling, pre-punching, tapping, screwing fasteners? Then the use of stud welding machines are the solution.
Secure fastening is always the most important thing. However, saving money and time and increasing productivity, as well as being competitive with your products, is no secondary option.
This is exactly what stud welding and the use of stud welding machines help to do.
- They will result in significant cost savings for your products if you can weld the fasteners in good quality and instatly.
- With stud welding machines you can weld threaded and threadless pins, spacers with internal thread and pins of different diameters.
- Metalworking does not require punching; can be made from one side. It is a modern method of creating strong metallic bond between metal sheet and fastener.
- You can fix a wide variety of welding elements up to a diameter of 30 mm, even for plates with a minimum thickness of 0.5 mm.
What types of stud welding procedures can you choose?
Stud welding can be accomplished by short-cycle drawn arc welding using machine with a ceramic ring or shielding gas (additional protection) or capacitor discharge CD) with ignition pin.
Should weld of larger cross-section, heavy-duty pins?
Drawn arc welding technology is the solution. It can be applied from a plate thickness of 2mm. Welding is been made with ceramic ring or gas protection.
- Melting in depth 1-3mm.
- Additional protection can be a shielding gas or a ceramic ring.
- Welding range: Ø 3 - 22 mm diameter.
- It results in a very stable welding.
How does an drawn arc welding machine work?
Welding based on drawn arc technology takes about 0.1 to 0.2 seconds. The energy source is a welding current controller, which creates a controlled continuous arc between the fastener and the sheet metal. During the process the use of a shielding gas or ceramic ring is required as a support.
When the weldable fastener arrives to the sheet, the welding pin begins to rise from the surface while the arc is generated. Then the welding pin is immersed in the melt, cooling down and creating the joint.
Because it slightly discolors and deforms the material its need after treatment.
If the back side of the sheet metal is important for you, then choose the capacitor discharge stud welding process.
What are the benefits of capacitor discharge stud welding?
Its biggest advantage lies in creating a non visible welding on the on the back side. A condensator provides the energy for the welding processes at the capacitor discharge stud welding (CD)
About 1-3 ms is enough to release the voltage through the tip of the welding pin. A ceramic ring or shielding gas is not required as a support.
With a capacitor discharge stud welding machine, you can create a similarly strong connection to the drawn arc welding.
Advantages of capacitor discharge stud welding and stud welding machines:
- These types of stud welding machines make it easy to fix 2-12mm diameter welding elements to a metallic surface. The capacitor discharge stud welding process can be used up to a diameter of 10-12 mm.
- The process of depleating the capacitor takes about 1-3 ms. Therefore, it is an extremely fast pocess.
- During welding, no traces are formed on the back of the thinnest welding surface (min 0,5mm) or surface-treated or plastic-covered work materials.
- It has an immersion depth of 0.1mm, the melting depth for this process is very small.
- And it can also be used on a minimum thickness of 0.5 mm sheet metal.
- It does not cause an aesthetic disadvantage on the back of the surface. Welding on a sheet can be done without drilling and welding. So that there is no visible burn marks or deformation on the back of the work surface. Can be even used on plastic-coated sheet with a foiled surface on the back.
The most cost-effective welding method becouse of the fast welding process.
How It Works?
While the tip of the welding pin touches the welding surface, a thin layer of melt is formed between the welding pin and the work surface due to the arc bade by the current from the capacitor. The welding pin sinks into the melt and then the melt solidify; creating a strong fixation with this.
Why to use stud welding?
- Because it can save you money and time. A strong connection is created quickly and permanently.
- Because its use increases productivity. In short time, high quality fixation of fastener is possible.
- In doing so, it generates competitiveness.
